Online IPL betting gang busted in Kota, 4 arrested in the act
Kota: A gang engaged in online betting on IPL matches was busted and four people were arrested in a joint operation by Borekheda police station officials and the district special team (DST) late on Wednesday night.
Rs 1.34 lakh in cash, 11 android mobiles, and a laptop with pen drive were recovered in a raid at flat No. 83 of Samriddhi Enclave II near Royal Marriage Garden under Borekheda police station. Betting calculation noting of over Rs 14.38 crore was also recovered, said police.
The four arrested men—Shahnawaj Khan, 22, Noshad Khan, 21, Dinesh, 30, and Mohammed Sharif, 35—are residents of Bundi city.
“The accused were found carrying out online betting on the ongoing IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. One of the accused, Danish, has at least nine cases under RPGO (Rajasthan Public Gambling Ordinance, 1949) and one under IPC pending against him,” said Kota city SP Sharad Choudhary.
