Op Dastak to conduct verification of criminals

Prayagraj: Prayagraj commissionerate of police launched a week long special drive on Thursday, named ‘Operation Dastak’ to conduct physical verification of criminals whose names were surfaced in connection with loot, robbery and dacoity cases in the past five years. The drive will be continued till May 17.
Briefing about the drive, a senior cop said, “The cops have been asked to check the whereabouts of history sheeters/ criminals and gangs whose names were surfaced in connection with loot and robbery cases in the past five years. Cops have also been asked to verify whether the criminals are still active in criminal activities or their current status once they were bailed out.”
Cops have also been directed to conduct surprise raids at the suspected hideouts of criminals and take action accordingly.
Sources added that police will be conducting physical verification of over 400 criminals whose names were surfaced in connection with heinous criminal activities in the period of last five years.
