AHMEDABAD: A 40-year-old woman from the Gota area of the city allegedly slashed her mother-in-law's wrist with a knife following a domestic dispute and later created ruckus at Sola police station and damaged a desktop computer when a complaint was being registered against her.
Urmila Sharma, 72, a resident of Silver Gardenia Society in Gota, stated in her FIR with Sola police that on Wednesday morning, her daughter-in-law Charu Sharma came to her demanding food. “She barged into my room and told me angrily that she was hungry for the past four days and that she wanted food immediately. I told her that she had cooked the food and kept it in the kitchen, so she should go and have her meal. This did not go well with her, and she attacked me,” Urmila’s complaint states. According to the complaint, Charu then went to the kitchen and returned to Urmila’s room with a knife and slashed her left wrist.
Urmila called up her son Dipak and grandson Chirag who rushed home and took her to Sola police station after giving her first aid. A team of Sola police began the process of registering a complaint.
When a woman ASI, Kajal Gordhan, was registering Urmila’s complaint, Charu began scolding the cop for not registering her complaint.
Gordhan said that Charu began recording the police procedure on her cellphone. When she asked Charu to stop recording, she threw a desktop, the CPU and the keyboard on the floor.
Charu was booked for causing grievous hurt, obstructing the duty of a cop and damaging public property.
