DyCM inaugurates Wardha police’s ‘Seva’ project
Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis also launched QR code-based patrolling system by bike-borne cops
Wardha: Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is also state home minister, formally inaugurated Wardha police’s ‘Service excellence and victim assistance’ (Seva) project on Wednesday. On the occasion, he also launched QR code-based patrolling system by bike-borne cops.
The Seva project has till April last week catered to 885 complainants, whose grievances were being uploaded in the cloud-based online portal with the progress of each case being tracked and supervised by the district police chief, i.e. superintendent of police.
The project, initiated in the beginning on this year on experimental basis, has so far helped dispose of 300 cases while two complaints had to be reopened.
Wardha superintendent of police Noorul Hasan, who conceptualized the project, said the complainant gets regular updates of his/her case through WhatsApp messages and the special Seva cell also monitors the case.
Hasan, who had introduced QR-based patrolling in Nagpur before launching it in Wardha now, said the complainant gets a WhatsApp message immediately after registering the grievance informing about which police station has been handed over the case and the name and number of the investigation officer.
“After disposal of the case, the report would be also sent to the complainant on WhatsApp. If he or she is unhappy, then the case can be reopened with a different investigation officer,” said Hasan, adding the project is meant to help citizens and induce responsible policing.
Hasan, a scientist-turned-IPS officer, also has introduced ‘visitor management system’ which has streamlined the process of meeting the SP strictly on the basis of first-come-first-served basis.
