Russian man drowns off Pernem coast

Panaji: The body of a Russian national, who disappeared into the sea while swimming on Wednesday evening, washed ashore at Keri on Thursday.
Divid Dzhioev, 40, had gone swimming, but since the sea was rough, his friend had tried to stop him. However, Dzhioev ventured into the sea, and shortly after, the friend saw him disappear into the turbulent waters.
Pernem police said that the friend called other acquaintances to search for Dzhioev.
On Thursday, after his body washed ashore, beachgoers contacted the police, and his body was shifted to Goa Medical College.
As per protocol, the police informed the Foreign Regional Registration Office, which subsequently contacted the Russian embassy.
