As the Broncos’ newest members and hopefuls hit the field for a weekend rookie minicamp, more of the club’s draft picks are agreeing to contract terms.
Third-round cornerback Riley Moss and sixth-round safety JL Skinner each agreed to their four-year rookie deals, a source confirmed to The Post on Friday morning. They join seventh-round interior offensive lineman Alex Forsyth in having that step in the process finalized.
Denver’s top two picks — second-round receiver Marvin Mims, Jr. and third-round linebacker Drew Sanders — remain unsigned. Some players take longer than others to get their deals finalized, but long disputes have become rare since the rookie wage scale essentially standardized deals based on draft position.
According to Over The Cap data, here’s what each of the Broncos’ five draft picks slot value looks like:
Mims: Four years, $6.07 million ($1.41 million signing bonus)
Sanders: Four years, $5.73 million ($1.17 million signing bonus)
Moss: Four years, $5.04 million ($961,809 signing bonus)
Skinner: Four year, $4.04 million ($196,219 signing bonus)
Forsyth: Four years, $3.92 million ($77,777 signing bonus)
Skinner is limited by a torn pectoral muscle he suffered just before the NFL Combine in February, but he said after he got drafted that he is about a month from being fully cleared for activity.
The quintet of draft picks will hardly be alone this weekend at rookie minicamp. The Broncos haven’t yet put out a roster for the weekend, but they announced Friday they signed 15 college free agents in addition to inviting a myriad of rookie tryout players including locals like Colorado School of Mines wide receiver Josh Johnston. Add in others with NFL experience like a trio who recently wrapped up the XFL season — quarterback Ben DiNucci, edge Trent Harris and running back Jacques Patrick — and it’s possible the total number of participants could approach or exceed 40.
The 15 college free agents are: TE Nate Adkins (South Carolina), LB Seth Benson (Iowa), OL Henry Byrd (Princeton), WR Dallas Daniels (Jackson State), DB Darrious Gaines (Western Colorado), CB Art Green (Houston), WR Taylor Grimes (Incarnate Word), DL Marcus Haynes (Old Dominion), DL Thomas Incoom (Central Michigan), OL Demontrey Jacobs (South Florida), TE Kris Leach (Kent State), RB Jaleel McLaughlin (Youngstown State), DT P.J. Mustipher (Penn State), OL Alex Palczewski (Illinois) and RB Emanuel Wilson (Fort Valley State).
Two players whose schools reported they had agreed to join the Broncos but who were not signed Friday: Indiana DB Devon Matthews and Oklahoma State DL Sione Asi.
Denver also signed OL Haggai Chisom Ndubuisi as part of the NFL’s international pathways program, but he doesn’t count against the 90-man roster.
The Broncos started Friday with 77 rostered players including their five draft picks, signed the 15 college free agents and waived OL Parker Ferguson and RB Tyreik McAllister, filling their roster.
