Gurgaon:The candidates who have qualified the prelims of Haryana Staff Selection Commission’s (HSSC) Common Eligibility Test (CET) are planning to organise a march from Karnal to Panchkula this week against the rules set by the committee for the mains.
The candidates started a Twitter campaign on Wednesday with the hashtag ‘No Appointment No Vote’ against the state government for its arbitrary decision of not allowing all candidates, who cleared the prelims, for the mains.
The first exam of CET was held on November 5 and 6 last year. The eligibility score was decided to be 50% in the general category and 40% in the reserved category.
But the HSSC’s rule states that admit cards for the mains exam would be issued to a few students. Four times of 35,000 vacant posts, i.e. 1.4 lakh meritorious candidates out of 2.92 lakh who cleared prelims will be issued admit cards for the mains. HSSC is will review the prelims results of 65,000 more candidates. HSSC is reportedly reviewing prelims results of 65,000 more candidates.
The candidates moved High Court which decided to reserve its verdict saying their case was ‘weak’. Kanwar Pal Gujjar assured them of a quick resolution to their woes.
“The prelims exam screened us for subjects like general awareness and language. If I am not competent in a language, that does not mean I am not good in the subject of my expertise,” said Amit, who appeared for the technical post.
About 12 lakh youths from all over the state had applied for the exams of whom 7.73 lakh candidates appeared and 2.92 lakh candidates qualified according to the response submitted by the HSSC in the court.
