Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with his cabinet ministers and colleagues watched ‘The Kerala Story’ on May 11. After the film, he briefed the media and said that the film is about the use of innocent girls by terrorist organisations in the name of Jihad and religion. Kerala is going through its toughest period and people must raise their voices against the use of innocent girls as pawns by terrorists. During the media briefing, he also targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the ban on the film in the state. He said that the film is not about any particular community and it was a bad decision to ban the film. “The film is about the use of innocent girls by terrorist organisations in the name of Jihad and religion. Kerala is going through its toughest period and people must raise their voices against the use of innocent girls as pawns by terrorists. Assam has no such cases, but there are definitely cases where innocent girls have been indoctrinated to convert to other religions. I appeal to the people of India to watch the film along with their families,” said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. On being asked about the ban on the film in West Bengal, he said, “The film is not about any particular community and it was a bad decision to ban the film. They are under the notion that the film is against the Muslim community. This film is against ISIS so they must watch the film.”
