Beginning on june 1, the interim pattern it proposes will be in effect for the first few months of the new water year.

The board, which met in person on wednesday, resolved to enlist the help of the Jal shakti Ministry in order to reach a final water-sharing arrangement that would be acceptable to both States. The three-person committee, which consists of the member secretary of the Board and the chief engineers of the two States, will keep an eye on water sharing based on the indentations made by the respective States and the availability of water.

By ending the ad hoc agreement that gave Andhra 66% of the assured water and telangana 34%, telangana has been pursuing water sharing at a 50:50 ratio. However, andhra pradesh did not wish to alter the current method of sharing until the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal issued its ruling.

Officials from telangana pressed on being allowed to use half of the 811 TMC designated for the undivided State. The 66:34 ratio sharing between andhra pradesh and telangana will no longer be acceptable, Special Chief Secretary (Irrigation) Rajat Kumar stated in a press conference following the meeting. telangana was established with the express purpose of redressing the unfair treatment received in water sharing.
