Suspect captured, charged with shooting Biloxi officer during Black Spring Break
The Covington County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshall Fugitive Task Force made an arrest Wednesday in connection with the shooting of a Biloxi police officer in April at Black Spring Break.
Dontavius Magee was arrested at a Covington County residence and charged with kidnapping, assault, two counts of aggravated assault and assault on a law enforcement officer, according to a Facebook post by the Covington County Sheriff’s Department.
The arrest stems from a shooting that injured five people, including an officer, in Biloxi on April 16. The incident occurred near Surf Style on Highway 90 on the last day of Black Spring Break.
The officer and civilians injured were all treated without any life-threatening injuries.
Another shooting occurred the day before in the same neighborhood and resulted in the death of one. A Louisiana man was charged with manslaughter in that case.
