HAZARIBAG: Police have formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the murder of Sharat Kumar, general manager of Ritwick Private Company Ltd, an outsourcing firm, near Barkagaon forest office on Tuesday.
The firm is owned by Ramesh Babu, a senior BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Andhra Pradesh.
Kumar, a resident of Laxmi Nagar in Hyderabad, was engaged in mining development at power utility NPTC's Chhati Bariatu coal mining site in Barkagaon.
He died while his bodyguard suffered injuries when two unidentified motorcycle-borne criminals fired at them near the forest guest house on Tuesday.
Superintendent of police Manoj Ratan Chothe said, "We are working according to the guidelines given by the ADGP and Narendra Kumar Singh, DIG, North Chotanagpur range, on how to contain these incidents in areas under Barkagaon and Keredari police stations."
The SP said the SIT will be headed by Amit Kumar Singh, SDPO, Barkagaon circle.
Asked if People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a Maoist organisation, has claimed responsibility for the murder, the SP said, "We are working on that but can't give any details."
