“No of patents per year has increased to 30 thousand…” says PM Modi

On the occasion of National Technology Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 11 laid the foundation stone of several scientific projects in Delhi. He also released a commemorative postage stamp and coin. While addressing the gathering, he hailed efforts made in science and technology. He said that 10 years ago there were 4 thousand patent grants in a year, but today their number has increased to more than 30 thousand. PM Modi said, “Since 2014, the way India has focused on science and technology has led to major changes. The Startup India campaign we started, the Digital India campaign we started, and the National Education Policy we made have also given a new height to India’s success in the technology sector. Earlier, Science which was limited to books only is now moving beyond experiments and turning into patents. In India, 10 years ago there were 4 thousand patent grants in a year, but today their number has increased to more than 30 thousand.”
