Randhawa calls meet of state Cong leaders in Del
Jaipur: Even as former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot is to embark on a five-day ‘Jan Jagaran Padyatra’ from Ajmer to Jaipur on Thursday to highlight the twin issues of corruption and paper leak, Rajasthan Congress in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has called a meeting of state party functionaries, including PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra and recently appointed party co-coordinators, in the national capital on Friday to discuss the ongoing feud between CM Ashok Gehlot and Pilot.
Earlier, when Pilot observed a daylong fast on April 11, Randhawa termed it anti-party activity and warned of action. However, the party's top brass was against any precipitative action with Karnataka election round the corner.
With Karnataka elections now over, the Congress may devote some attention to the festering problem in Rajasthan, where elections are due by the end of this year. The party feels that it has good prospects in the desert state provided both the “assets of the party” (Gehlot and Pilot), as Rahul Gandhi put it, work together. However, it is a far cry and the situation is getting worse by the day.
Pilot has been claiming that he has been tolerating Gehlot’s insinuations and the party has to reign in the CM if it wants to enforce a truce. However, Randhawa, who was very vocal during the fast of Pilot, is now keeping silent. He has not responded to calls or made any public statements so far.
