Temporary postings for over 360 new principals

Gurgaon: The school education department has allotted 362 newly promoted principals on temporary postings until the next teachers’ transfer as a stop-gap arrangement. The department on Wednesday asked the teachers-promoted-to-principals to join their new postings with immediate effect.
Transfer letters arrived following the department’s exercise of collecting data of the post-graduate teachers and headmasters eligible for promotion. Eligibility was determined based on seniority as of June 1 last year for the PGTs, and July 8, 2019 for the headmasters.
Promotions were also open for those who had previously foregone it at least one year ago. The department had announced that the data was only required to compile the list of teachers whose promotions were pending, and not to finalise their promotion.
Promotion-seekers were also asked to submit their choice of postings.
The portal for the promoted candidates to fill their preferences was opened from May 2 to May 5. A list of vacant posts across Haryana schools was also released along with a portal for online counselling for temporary posting of principals in school cadre.
The exercise began on April 28 this year, after the department released the list of promoted PGTs and headmasters, said Anshaj Singh, director of secondary education department.
The department is still managing the ruckus that was created due to the online transfers last year, which had left several schools teacher-less and others with a surplus of educators.
