NATHDWARA: Chants of "Modi...Modi" from the crowd during CM
Ashok Gehlot's speech at an official event in Nathdwara on Wednesday prompted the PM to gesture to
BJP state president C P Joshi to intervene and he also stood up himself to silence the gathering. As the din subsided, Gehlot went on to speak about how the opposition should be respected in a democracy, hoping the PM would also "move in this direction".
"Vipaksh ke bina paksh kaisa (Can there be a governing party without the opposition)? Only if there is respect between both will they be able to serve the country," the CM said at the launch of projects worth more than Rs 5,500 crore. On his return to Jaipur, Gehlot said the PM should have refrained from criticising past Congress governments in his presence.
