RIC all set for bookings, memberships from June
Jaipur: The newly inaugurated Rajasthan International Centre (RIC) will open windows for venue bookings and membership applications in June. While the centre will start accepting bookings for different venues from June 1, it will publish an invitation for membership applications in mid-June.
“We are still working on the booking tariffs and membership fees. As far as membership applications are concerned, citizens of any nation can apply,” Nihal Chand Goel, RIC director, told TOI.
Individuals who want to book venues will have to submit applications online. RIC officials will scrutinise the purpose and objective of the venue. Once the applications get cleared by the director, applicants have to submit the booking amount to get it confirmed.
“We will only allow those events that serve the purpose of the centre. Like cultural functions and seminars. Marriage ceremonies will not be allowed. Once we start getting members, we have to give preference to them. So, the process of scrutinisation of events is very important,” added Goel.
In 2012, Jaipur Development Authority had organized a competition where 17 renowned architects from all over India participated.
On September 19, 2012, the screening committee formed by JDA, selected a Jaipur-based designer as the consultant architect. In April 2013, then chief minister Ashok Gehlot had laid the foundation stone of this project. Finally, Gehlot inaugurated it on April 17, 2023.
Besides, auditoriums and seminar halls of different types, the centre houses two restaurants. However, it would take another few months to open these.
