KANPUR: District Magistrate/district election officer Vishak G Iyer on Wednesday evening made an appeal to the people of the city to come out and cast their votes as responsible citizens on Thursday. Voter card is necessary for casting a vote.
Though the election commission has asked the voters to produce their Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICS) before casting their votes, if one does not have an EPIC, he/she may produce any one of the following documents to establish their identity, he said.
A voter can use Aadhar card, passport, driving licence, PAN card, ration card, photo ID cards issued by the state/Central government/public sector undertakings or by public limited companies, photographed pass books issued by the public sector banks/ post office, pension documents, pension book of former soldier, PPO, old age pension passbook with photograph, photographed ID of freedom fighter, arm licence, certificate of physically challenged person, health insurance smart card issued by the labour department, smart card issued under national population register, photographed ID issued by MP/ MLA, he added. District election officer/district magistrate Vishak G Iyer on Wednesday established a Control Room at his office and deputed Rajesh Kumar incharge magistrate and nodal officer Chaudhary Arun Kumar deputy director Agriculture.
The two officers will hear the complaints/problems during the election (voting) and redress them in time bound manner.
