Prayagraj: A man was arrested by Pratapgarh police on Wednesday on the charges of opening fire with his illegal weapon during a ‘nautanki’ platform on April 30.
The accused identified as Imtiyaz alias Imyaz Ahmed is a resident of Devli village. A country made pistol of 0.315 bore along with two live cartridges were seized from his possession. He was also booked under section 286 of IPCand section 3\25 of Arms Act. Cops came into action only when a video of youth opening fire during an event went viral on social media. On Wednesday, a team of Nawabganj police arrested the accused near Rewali turn when he was planning to escape. When cops quizzed the arrested youth, he told interrogators that he used to carry the illegal weapon for his own safety but failed to reveal the reason for carrying illegal weapon or having enmity with anyone in the village. He also told interrogators that he reached the nautanki platform and opened fire in enthusiasm during playing a song. The accused was sent behind the bars.
