CUDDALORE: Cuddalore district superintendent of police R Rajaram, who spotted two accident victims on the road during his night rounds near Kurinjipadi, played the Good Samaritan role by rescuing them and rushing them to Kurinjipadi government hospital in his striking force van. His timely action saved the life of the two middle aged men, who sustained severe injuries after their speeding two-wheelers collided with each other.
Police sources said the SP was on night rounds near Kurinjipadi on Tuesday night. He spotted a group of people on the road. He stopped his vehicle to inquire the reason for the gathering around midnight.
He spotted two injured men lying on the road. Inquiries revealed that they sustained severe injuries after their two-wheelers collided head on. The villagers said they had called 108 ambulance service and were waiting for the ambulance.
“I felt the two injured must be immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. A delay of a few minutes may cost their lives. I directed the personnel in a patrol van to rush them to government hospital in Kurinjipadi. The two were admitted to hospital within a few minutes. One sustained severe injury in the head while the other on his limbs. A doctor on duty in the hospital said the victim with injury on the head could not have been saved if he had been admitted 10 minutes later,” said the SP.
