GURGAON: Highlighting the success of implementing new-age pedagogy and CBSE-based curriculum in Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary Schools (GMSSSS), the state education department on Friday announced that over 140 students in these schools have cleared the JEE Mains and have qualified for JEE Advance.
These students, along with 2.5 lakh students from across the country, will now appear for the JEE Advance exams that will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in June.
“The share of government school students appearing for JEE and NEET is increasing every year. Credit goes to various interventions and coaching schemes introduced by the state government. However, this is for the first time that so many students from Sanskriti Schools, which were started three years ago, have cleared the exams without any external help. This reflects how these schools have made it possible for the students, who cannot afford costly private education, to not only attain the best education but also pursue higher education in premier institutes such as IITs and NITs,” said secondary education director Anshaj Singh.
Of these 140 students, eight have scored above 99 percentile and 60 have scored above 90 percentile.
“These schools are giving tough competition to private schools. Students who earlier would seek admission to private schools to clear competitive exams are now coming to us. With PM-Shri schools also coming up soon, these figures will shoot up to 500 in a year to two,” said Pramod Kumar, state programme officer (directorate of school education).
