Bank staff who managed Rohit Godara gang’s ‘IT network’ lands in cop net

Jaipur: A 31-year-old engineer with a private bank was arrested on Tuesday for working as a close associate of gangster Rohit Godara.
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Kailash Chandra Bishnoi said police arrested Shivraj Singh Toliyasar for providing shelter to shooters.
Additional DCP of the special investigation team (SIT) Ram Singh said Godara had demanded Rs 5 crore from a businessman for which he had sent shooters to Jaipur from New Delhi in February.
“Toliyasar provided shelter to the two shooters in the city. He also arranged weapons including four pistols and 40 cartridges. The accused also organised a training session for shooters to fire weapons,” Singh said.
Due to heavy security, the accused could not fire at the businessman’s house and returned to Delhi. He was arrested a few months ago in another extortion case at Shipra Path and fled after getting bail.
A native of Jhunjhunu, Toliyasar completed his engineering in computer science (CS) from Bikaner in 2012. He secured a coveted job in a leading IT company in 2012 where he worked till 2015.
“He worked in leading software companies and then in 2017 found a lucrative job with a bank in the city. He was responsible for handling the entire IT network system of the bank,” said an official.
Cops said that Toliyasar met Godara in 2007 in Bikaner because Godara also lived in the same city.
“Godara fled the country before the murder of gangster Raju Theth last year. His other associates also safely ensconced themselves in other cities,” said an official, adding that Toliyasar became an important figure in the gang soon after.
Acting as an IT expert for the gang, Toliyasar regularly updated Godara about how to speak to his aides in India through a safe network.
“Toliyasar is an expert in encryption and helped Godara talk freely from abroad to his henchmen in India. Primary investigation has discovered that the accused acted as a communication expert for the gang. He made sure that all communication of the gang ran through secure networks,” said a police official.
