BENGALURU: Panic prevailed in a private school at Huskur in Bengaluru Rural on Tuesday morning after the administrative staff received an email, saying that a bomb had been planted inside.
Hebbagodi police accompanied by a bomb-defusing squad scanned the area for over two hours before declaring the threat a hoax.
“A powerful bomb has been planted in your school and it will explode anytime. It is not a joke. Immediately call police and sappers, hundreds of lives may suffer, including yours. Do not delay and everything is in your hand,” read the email received by Ebenezer International School on Singena Agrahara Road.
The school, along with more than 20 other educational institutions in and around Bengaluru, had received a similar email threat in April last year. However, police stopped chasing the miscreants since the IP addresses were found to be from a foreign country.
“We received mails on three IDs available on our website — career, admission and general information sections. This is the second time we’re receiving such an email. International Baccalaureate exam was on and we had 12 students and two teachers in a hall. Admin and maintenance staff were on the campus. We cleared the area. We did not want to take this lightly and took all measures to ensure safety,” said Anuradha Krishnan, school principal.
