Govt to revive 'Mana Nagaram' to boost connect with citizens in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The BRS government plans to revive the 'Mana Nagaram' programme in the city to give people a platform for raising grievances and quick solutions. The lone event in 2018 ahead of polls was a huge success and this has prompted the government to hold it again.
Among the issues resolved through the lone 'Mana Nagaram' in 2018 is the long-pending demand to regularise plots in 44 colonies in LB Nagar which was first brought to the notice of municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao during the programme.
A GO was issued to regularise the plots last November. Similar programme was organised at Kukatpally and other areas too with the support of residential welfare associations (RWAs).
With KTR giving officials the go-ahead to plan for another 'Mana Nagaram', they have begun collecting information on RWAs and some have been asked to identify local issues pertaining to various departments including Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), power supply, traffic and other civic issues.
"The government is planning to begin 'Mana Nagaram' from June and it will be held in all the zones and, if needed, in assembly constituencies. All the important departments including RTC and police would join," a senior municipal administration official said.
The minister along with officials and local MLAs would attend the programme and a nodal official will be appointed to track issues. It was also decided to ensure that grievances are resolved in a time-bound manner depending on the issue.
Some officials said that GHMC should hold coordination meetings once every week in various areas where different departments are involved. 'Mana Nagaram' is meant to plug this gap in citizen services, officials said.
