Oil prices fell Wednesday, extending a spell of volatility as traders balance weakening demand against output cuts by major producers.
Brent-crude futures, the international benchmark, slipped 1.2% to $76.54 a barrel. The decline takes momentum out of a recovery in oil prices, which had pared recent losses over the past week.
