IndusInd Bank(up 1.08 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Punjab National Bank(down 3.88 per cent), Bank of Baroda(down 2.25 per cent), IDFCBANK(down 1.71 per cent), State Bank of India(down 1.46 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.83 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Bank index was down 0.74 per cent at 42876.75 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 42.65 points at 18223.3, while the BSE Sensex was down 141.64 points at 61619.69.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 32 were in the red.
Shares of Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd., PNB, YES Bank, Zomato Ltd. and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Kilitch Drug, Infinium Pharmachem, Lead Reclaim and Rubber Products Ltd., Ambani Organics and Surani Steel Tubes hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vasa Retail & Overse, Innovative Tyres & T, Coastal Corp(PP), SEL Manufact and Virinchi hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
