AREAL FLOOD WATCH

URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be

possible.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following

areas, Hardin, Lower Jefferson, Northern Orange, Southern Jasper,

Southern Newton, Southern Orange and Upper Jefferson.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,

creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur

in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

- An upper level low will combine with a very moist air and

unstable air mass to produce widespread showers and

thunderstorms with heavy rainfall. The heavy rain may fall in

a short period with rates between 1 and 3 inches per hour and

over areas where ground are already wet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to

Flash Flooding. Flash Flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. You

should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should

Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

The Weather Prediction Center has issued a Moderate Risk of

excessive rainfall leading to flash flooding. The probability for

numerous significant flash floods events has increased. There is an

increased danger to lives and property due to flash flooding.

* WHERE...Portions of Louisiana and southeast Texas, including the

following areas and parishes, in Louisiana, Beauregard, East

Cameron, Northern Calcasieu, Southern Calcasieu, Vernon and West

Cameron. In southeast Texas, Northern Jasper, Northern Newton and

Tyler.

- An upper level low will combine with a very moist and

a short period of time with rates between 1 and 3 inches per

hour and over areas where grounds are already wet.
