A theatre workshop was organised by National School of Drama (NSD) in Srinagar. It was organised in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL). It aimed to promote art activities and provide a platform for art-loving people in the valley. During the workshop, participants attended both theory as well practical classes given by experts of National School of Drama in the auditorium hall. They learnt all the basic things including action, reaction, face impression, dialogue delivery, concentration of script and other things. For the last few years, the cultural academy has been organising a number of theatre festivals, which resulted in art-loving youths participating on a large scale. Kashmir has also five to seven thousand years of rich cultural history and theatres to highlight social issues and entertain the people of the valley. Now, people have other sources of entertainment including cinema, television and other digital platforms and that is why the younger generation is not fully aware about the theatre. So that’s why participants appreciated the initiative and demanded that such types of workshops should be continued in future to boost theatre and art-related activities.
