Boulder police and SWAT responded to a home in the Table Mesa area after an armed man barricaded himself with his family inside.

Boulder police spokeswoman Jennifer Ciplet said dispatchers received a call at 9:21 p.m. Monday reporting that a man had a gun and was threatening to kill himself while his family was inside.

Boulder police officers responded with a SWAT vehicle because of the nature of the call. A crisis team was also established as part of the response.

Police were able to safely evacuate the man’s family, including two children.

The man then exited the home and officers were able to take him into custody without further incident. He was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing and child abuse.
