CHENNAI: Mannargudi legislator T R B Rajaa will be inducted into the M K Stalin cabinet, while dairy development minister S M Nasar will be dropped, the state government has informed the Raj Bhavan. Rajaa will take oath as a minister at Raj Bhavan at 10.30am on Thursday.
A communication from Raj Bhavan said "chief minister recommended the governor of
Tamil Nadu to induct Rajaa in the council of ministers. The governor has approved the recommendation." The governor also approved the recommendation of the chief minister to drop Nasar from the cabinet.
Rajaa, son of DMK treasurer T R Baalu, is a three-time MLA from Mannargudi. He was earlier appointed the DMK's NRI wing secretary and later the IT wing secretary.
He is a member of the state planning commission. According to the
Tamil Nadu Assembly rules, the maximum approved strength of the council of ministers is 15% of the total number of members in the house. The 234-member Tamil Nadu assembly can have 35 ministers. With the removal of Nasar and addition of Rajaa the strength of the council of ministers remains at the maximum number.
