Both the average and median salary too rose this year
VADODARA: Students of master of social work (MSW) and master of human resource management (MHRM) at M S University’s Faculty of Social Work are on cloud nine these days.
The faculty achieved a milestone this year with record placements for MSW and MHRM students. Last year, the highest salary package was Rs 10 lakh per annum which has witnessed a significant jump of nearly 40% this placement season.
While two MSW students have bagged an annual pay package of Rs 14 lakh offered by Aditya Birla Grasim, four MHRM students bagged Rs 13.45 lakh package from Vedanta Resources Limited.
“After completing my BBA studies, I was totally confused but eventually joined MSW where I got hands-on training and exposure which turned me into a good communicator,” said Zainab Barodawala, who along with another MSW student Ananya Agarwal, bagged Rs 14 lakh per annum package. Unlike her, Shivam Bhatti, a graduate in textile engineering from the Faculty of Technology and Engineering, worked with a private firm before enrolling for MHRM course. “While on the job, I realized that I needed a masters degree and opted for MHRM,” said Bhatti.
Bhatti along with three other students — Bhasha Rana, Rutvi Gosai and Krupa Shah — bagged Rs 13.45 lakh annual salary package.
Both the average and median salary too rose this year. The average pay package this year was Rs 7 lakh per annum, compared to Rs 6.5 lakh recorded last year. The median salary package jumped from Rs 5 lakh per annum last year to Rs 7 lakh per annum.
In all, of the 96 MSW and MHRM students, 63 were recruited by Indian, multinationals and non-profit organizations. “About 40 organizations visited the faculty this year and two-third of students are already hired,” said professor Bhavna Mehta, head and dean of Faculty of Social Work.
