UP: FIR lodged after Dalit youth assaulted over petty issue

LUCKNOW: A dalit youth was allegedly attacked by a group of local goons for not giving his mobile phone to them in Gudamba, police said. Though the incident took place on May 4, a case was registered on Wednesday after the victim's father took up the matter with senior officials.
The victim, Vinay Bharti of Gudamba, was taking a stroll after dinner around 9.30pm when he was stopped by Ashish Pandey, Amit Pandey, both of Sector H of Jankipuram and their aides, all riding motorcycles.
They told Vinay to hand over his phone and when he refused, they started beating him while hurling casteist remarks. SHO, Gudumba, Nitish Srivastava, said an FIR under ST/SC Act and other relevant charges have been slapped against the accused and efforts on to nab them.
