Salem: The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has invited applications from the eligible candidates, who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test this year, for MBBS and BDS seats under the insured person quota (IP quota) in the medical colleges managed by it.
Siva Ramakrishnan, director, sub-regional office, ESIC, Salem, said the children of people insured by the ESIC were entitled to the admission under the IP quota. “Employees insured under the ESI scheme as on September 30, 2022, could avail the benefit of IP quota for their children.”
Under the quota, he said, candidates would be allocated seats on the basis of merit and preference for their institution.
The merit list would be prepared based on the all-India rank list, consistent with the reservation policy of the Union government for preparation of category-wise inter-se merit list. Candidates would be allotted seats through the centralized online counselling by the directorate general of health services.
The tuition fee payable for MBBS would be Rs24,000 per annum. No need to pay any capitation fees.
A total of 437 MBBS and 28 BDS seats are allocated to the children of people insured by the ESIC. Of these, 45 MBBS seats are in Tamil Nadu - 25 with the ESIC medical college at KK Nagar in Chennai and another 20 with the government medical college in Coimbatore.
Eligible candidates may apply online using the link provided on the ESIC website - www.esic.gov.in - that was activated from May 4.
The last date for submitting applications is May 17. For details, refer to the admission notice of ESIC medical education cell dated May 2.
