Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks were trading lower on Wednesday at 11:06AM

Varun Beverages(up 4.45%), Emami(up 2.88%), Tasty Bite Eatables(up 1.38%), Sheetal Cool Products(up 1.28%), Britannia Industries(up 1.24%), Mrs Bectors Food Specialities(up 1.11%), Zydus Wellness(up 0.66%), Nestle India(up 0.63%), Colgate Palmolive(India)(up 0.62%) and Hindustan Unilever(up 0.54%) were among the top gainers.

Future Consumer(down 4.00%), Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(down 2.00%), ADF Foods(down 1.63%), Vadilal Industries(down 1.35%), Dabur India(down 1.20%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(down 0.88%), Heritage Foods(down 0.75%), Hindustan Foods(down 0.66%), Prataap Snacks(down 0.62%) and Marico(down 0.52%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 16.45 points down at 18249.5, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 74.11 points at 61687.22 at around 11:06AM.

HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.91%), IndusInd Bank(up 1.75%), Britannia Industries(up 1.24%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.09%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.03%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 0.75%), Nestle India(up 0.59%), UltraTech Cement(up 0.55%), Adani Enterprises(up 0.54%) and Hindustan Unilever(up 0.54%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, UPL Ltd(down 1.7%), State Bank of India(down 1.21%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 1.06%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.67%), Eicher Motors(down 0.65%), Tata Steel(down 0.59%), Bharti Airtel(down 0.59%), Divis Laboratories(down 0.54%), HCL Technologies(down 0.54%) and Coal India(down 0.53%) were trading in the red.
