The United States is investigating whether Rockwell Automation (NYSE:ROK) is exposing critical infrastructure, military and other government facilities to a major cyberattack, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
The Biden administration's investigation is focused on employees based at the company’s facility in Dalian, China, who might have access to software codes that connect with those computer systems, the newspaper reported, citing people familiar with the matter and related documents.
Inspectors general at the Energy Department and the Defense Department, along with the Justice Department’s Commercial Litigation Branch, are part of the investigation.
Rockwell (ROK) provides software and cybersecurity services to computer systems used in the national power grid and by the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.
