Make some noise for the man born Austin Richard Post. The 27-year-old rapper and singer, better known by his famous stage name, Post Malone, recently announced he was hard at work on album number five. Not bad considering his fourth - the globe-conquering Twelve Carat Toothache - was released just last summer. The accompanying tour is set to wrap up in Amsterdam next week, but first up, a warmly anticipated stop-off in Dublin, with support from American hip hop duo, Rae Sremmurd. Mr Post’s elaborate stage design will almost certainly blow your mind.

Act, Glass Mask Theatre

For their next theatrical wonder, the generous folks at Glass Mask Theatre turn to the work of the late Swedish writer, Lars Norén. Directed by Johan Bark, Act takes place at the height of the Cold War in a tiny hospital room in West Germany where a communist political prisoner on hunger strike is ordered to sit with a dubious medical professional with ulterior motives. A thrilling interrogation unfolds in this searing, complex two-hander. Elaine O’Dwyer and Kyle Hixon co-star.

Until Saturday May 20. Doors: 6pm (show 7pm). Food and drink available. Tickets: €18 - €22. For more, visit https://glassmasktheatre.com/.

Michael Bublé, 3Arena

He doesn’t just come out at Christmas. A year on from the release of his 11th studio album, Higher, Canada’s smoothest crooner touches down in the capital for a couple of shows in the old Point Theatre. You know how this goes. The man with the golden pipes is no stranger to these shores and – if we’re to believe everything he tells us on stage – this is one of Bublé’s favourite places in the world. Yes, he probably says that to all the crowds, but do we care? Not really. Good to have you back, Michael.

Saturday May 13 & Sunday May 14. Doors: 6.30pm. Tickets from €139.50. For more, visit https://mcd.ie/.

Still: A Michael J Fox Movie, Light House Cinema

Academy Award-winning documentarian Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) steers this rich and wholesome portrait of the Back to the Future star, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at 29. Here, the Hollywood icon tells his story in his own words. It’s an extraordinary piece of work,

funny, insightful, heart-breaking and every bit as charming as you’d expect - and Smithfield’s Light House cinema is the only picture house in Dublin screening it. Not to be missed.

From Friday May 12. Tickets: €11 - €13.50. For a full list of screening times, visit https://www.lighthousecinema.ie/.

The SpongeBob Musical, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre

Everything about this extravagant stage production screams ‘practical joke’. For a start, it’s a live-action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon (don’t ask us how that works). Former Pop Idol superstar Gareth Gates is in it (he plays Squidward) and the show also features original songs by Aerosmith, The Flaming Lips, Cyndi Lauper and John Legend. But no, it’s the real deal – and who are we to argue with a whopping 12 Tony Award nominations? You’ll have the famous theme tune stuck in your head for days. RuPaul’s Drag Race legend Divina De Campo also features.

Until Saturday May 13. Time: 7.30pm (2.30pm matinee, Wed & Sat). Tickets from €21.50. For more, visit https://www.bordgaisenergytheatre.ie/.

Master Class: An Audience with Maria Callas, Smock Alley Theatre

Marking the centenary of the birth of Maria Callas - one of the most acclaimed opera singers of the 20th century - Terrence McNally’s Tony Award-winning play receives its Irish premiere. Conor Hanratty directs this promising new production, inspired by a series of real Callas masterclasses at the Juilliard School, New York in the 1970s. Caitríona Ní Mhurchú stars as the iconic American-Greek soprano, and the cast also includes Leo Hanna, Rebecca Rodgers, Niall Kinsella, Gillian Roberts and Kelli-Ann Masterson.

Until Saturday May 27. Time: 7.30pm. Tickets: €22 / €25. For more, visit https://smockalley.com/.
