LUCKNOW: CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced that the civil airport in Kanpur at Chakeri was ready and will be inaugurated this month itself.
The CM made the statement while addressing a rally in the city which goes to poll in the second phase of civic elections on Thursday. He also addressed rallies in Chitrakoot and Banda, wrapping up his campaign for ULB polls.
Yogi slammed the Samajwadi Party for making Kanpur famous for 'kattas' (country-made pistols). "Today a new node of the Defence Corridor is constructed in Kanpur," he said. The CM squarely accused the SP of being responsible for riots and curfews as well as playing with the faith of people.
The CM said that the Greenfield expressway between Lucknow-Kanpur would give the city a new identity. The enhanced connectivity of Kanpur has also increased productivity of the city, he said. Yogi said that the work on the second phase of the Metro project will also be inaugurated soon.
Addressing a rally in Chitrakoot, Yogi said that the double engine government of BJP was working to restore Chitrakoot’s lost glory as a major centre of Sanatan Dharma while connecting it with development. “Chitrakoot has been freed from dacoits, crime and criminals and is being re-established as a holy place of Sanatan Hinduism,” he said.
The CM took a jibe at the opposition parties, especially the SP, accusing it of forgetting the steps taken by its forefathers. He pointed out that the SP ideologue Ram Manohar Lohia had started Ramayana fairs. “But the SP disputed the existence of Ram,” Yogi said, reiterating that it was the SP regime which opened fire on Ram Bhakts (in 1990). He also referred to SP leader Swami Prasad Maurya’s controversial comments on Ramcharitmanas as “unsavoury”. “Their thinking is anarchic, opportunistic and dynastic.
They think about their family, rather than society. They can’t befriend a saint but would readily garland a dacoit and allow them to exploit common people and traders,” Yogi remarked. Addressing another rally at Banda, Yogi said that the Bundelkhand region has overcome the problem of barren and rugged terrain.
“In the next four months, the work of providing pure tap water to every house in Bundelkhand is going to be completed,” he claimed. The Chief Minister said that prior to 2017, Bundelkhand faced the crisis of water for drinking and agriculture.
“Women had to bring water in pitchers from far-off places, but now through the Har Ghar Nal Yojana, tap water is going to be provided to every house in Bundelkhand and the exercise will be completed in the next four months,” he said. Yogi said that farmers, traders, mothers and daughters of this region used to feel insecure during previous governments. “Now, the terror of criminals is history and traders no longer have to pay extortion. There is no loot of government resources,” he said.
