San Siro crowd belt out ‘the Champions’ in spine-tingling moment before Inter Milan claim huge win against AC Milan

AC and Inter Milan fans set the San Siro atmosphere alight ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash.

The two rivals were both battling for a spot in this year's final against reigning champions Real Madrid or Manchester City, however it was Inter who came away with a 2-0 lead after the first leg.

Milan and Inter play each other at least twice a season in Serie A, and met in the Champions League for the first time since 2005.

As both sides lined up on the pitch at the famous San Siro before the first leg kicked off, the competition's anthem was played.

Fan passion was clear to see and hear as supporters cried 'the Champions!', as is often the case in Italian Champions League matches, at the end of the music.

Excitement and anticipation had been building way before, and Milan legend Clarence Seedorf revealed how special the stadium is.

Speaking to BT Sport, he said: "I always considered this one of the best stadiums in the world.

"Not because I played here but the atmosphere it created and the type of Italian fans, how they're singing all the time and creating that buzz."

The match eventually got underway in Italy as both sides set their sights on the final.

Edin Dzeko's volley gave Inter the lead after just seven minutes before Henrikh Mkhitaryan added their second moments later.

Milan's night could have gone from bad to worse before the break after the referee awarded Inter a penalty.

However, following a check with VAR the decision was overturned, much to the relief of I Rossoneri fans.

Sandro Tonali's effort off the post was the closest that Milan came to pulling one back on the night.

Inter held on to claim the win, which gives them a two-goal advantage on aggregate ahead of the second leg next Tuesday night.
