Head of Bauer Media Ireland moving to top UK radio role

Bauer Media has appointed Simon Myciunka as CEO of its Bauer Media Audio UK, moving from his current role running the radio group’s Irish arm.

He’s due to take up the new role in July. In Dublin, Group Operations Director Chris Doyle will take over responsibility for the day-to-day running of the country’s biggest private sector radio group until a successor is found.

Bauer bought Denis O’Brien’s Communicorp Media, which includes Newstalk, TodayFM, 98FM, Spin 1038 and Spin Southwest in the summer of 2021. It has since added Red fm in Cork. The group also includes OTB Sports, the aggregated listening platform GoLoud for radio, podcasts and music and the digital audio advertising exchange, audioXi.

Simon Myciunka joined the then Communicorp in 2017 as commercial director and took over as CEO in 2020, replacing Adrian Serle two years before the sale to Bauer.

His appointment to replace Dee Ford as head of the UK business follows a competitive process,

From 1st July, Chris Doyle will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of Bauer Media Audio Ireland until a permanent successor has been appointed, the company said.

As well as Ireland and the UK Bauer Media Audio has operations operates in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Slovakia and Portugal.
