GURGAON: A 36-year-old man found dead near a gas godown in Sector 37 on April 16 was allegedly killed by three addicts who robbed him to buy drugs, police said. All three have been arrested.
The man who was killed was identified as Jitender Kumar, a resident of Sector 37 who worked with a private firm. He was staying in the city with his wife for the past eight months.
On April 15, Jitendra was returning home when he was attacked. “He had gone to buy something,” ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan said. The next morning, around 7.40am, the police in Sector 10 police received information about a body lying abandoned on an MCG plot.
“There was a plastic bag lying nearby and it contained an ID card. We came to know about the man’s identity from that card. We contacted his family members and his wife identified the body. Police teams from Sector 10 and the crime investigation agency of Manesar initiated a probe into the case. They collected all the evidence from the crime scene and nearby locations. The three addicts, who are believed to have killed the man, were arrested on Monday,” Sangwan added. The accused were identified as Anil Kumar, Suraj and Jagat.
“They are unemployed and rob people to fund their addiction for drugs. During questioning, they confessed to their crime and told police they had robbed Jitender Kumar of some money and a mobile phone that day. When he put up a fight, they killed him using bricks. We will produce them in court and seek police remand, Sangwan said. An FIR under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC was registered at Sector 10 police station.
