Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading lower on Wednesday at 10:56AM

Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(up 2.87%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(up 2.24%), Uttam Sugar Mills(up 0.97%), AVADHSUGAR(up 0.87%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(up 0.65%), Simbhaoli Sugars(up 0.41%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(up 0.39%), EID Parry(up 0.38%), K.M.Sugar Mills(up 0.36%) and Bannari Amman Sugars(up 0.16%) were among the top gainers.

Ugar Sugar Works(down 3.41%), BAJAJHIND(down 2.82%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 1.67%), Mawana Sugars(down 1.52%), Sakthi Sugars(down 1.29%), Rana Sugars(down 1.28%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(down 1.22%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(down 1.17%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 1.04%) and Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 0.88%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 17.7 points down at 18248.25, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 66.86 points at 61694.47 at around 10:56AM.

HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.71%), IndusInd Bank(up 1.52%), Britannia Industries(up 1.17%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.03%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.03%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 0.76%), Hindustan Unilever(up 0.66%), Nestle India(up 0.64%), Tata Motors(up 0.63%) and UltraTech Cement(up 0.61%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, UPL Ltd(down 1.55%), State Bank of India(down 1.21%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 1.0%), Coal India(down 0.72%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.65%), Bharti Airtel(down 0.54%), Eicher Motors(down 0.54%), NTPC(down 0.54%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.51%) and Tata Steel(down 0.5%) were trading in the red.
