Kanpur: “This time people will get rid of garbage and the
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),” said
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav talking to the media after addressing a public meeting in Rasulabad area of Kanpur Dehat on Tuesday afternoon.
He also attacked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for “calling Samajwadi people ‘apradhi’ (criminal) ‘gunda’ (goon) and mafia”. “What can I say now? Had he (CM) not withdrawn the cases against him, he would have had the longest list of criminal cases against him,” the SP chief said.
He also said that “if you ask him (CM) anything, he only talks about ‘tamancha’ (country-made pistols)”.
He further lashed out at the BJP and said that the government has completely failed to fulfill the basic issues, due to which the public will reject them this time. “These elections are related to the basic needs of the people, in fulfilling which the BJP government has failed miserably,” he said and added, “Because of this, the upcoming civic election results will be in our favour.”
Yadav further advocated the demand of caste-based census, and said, “My party wants to get caste census done. Everyone’s support and everyone’s development will be possible only when the caste census is done and only then ‘Ram Rajya’ will be established.” He claimed that in the ongoing civic elections, the maximum number of mayoral seats will be won by the SP. He added, “This election will also decide the direction of the 2024 elections and there will be a change in the government of Delhi too. Nothing new has happened in this government, only numbers have been changed from Dial 100 to Dial 112.”
He said that the arrangement of 108 ambulances was also the gift of the Samajwadi Party. “The road widening which was proposed in the Samajwadi Party government and the work had started, has been taken forward. No new work is being done in the BJP government,” he added. He further said, this government is spreading lies and working day and night to spread hatred among the people. “The facilities which were given by the SP government in the state have been stopped. There are no medicines in the hospitals. Doctors are only in working numbers,” he said. While reacting to a question by the media, wherein he was asked to make a comment on the sit-in dharna by wrestlers at Delhi’s Jantar-Mantar, Yadav said, “They should get
justice and it is BJP’s responsibility to get them justice.” Yadav, while addressing a public meeting in Rasulabad, paused his speech for a while after hearing ‘azaan’.
Later, he reached Kanpur and held a roadshow in Kanpur in support of the party’s mayoral candidate Vandana Bajpai. During this, he was accompanied by Bajpai on his chariot.
His roadshow started from Birhana Road and passed through Nayaganj, Canal Road, Ghantaghar, Halsi Road, Moolganj Square, Bansmandi, Hamraz Complex crossing, Lenin Park, P-Road, Gopal Talkies, Bajaria, Nala Road and later culminated at Rupam crossing.
