Nagpur: Under the aegis of G20, a conference of L-20 (labour organisations) is going to be organized in the city on May 11 by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS).
The Labour-20 represents the interests of workers at the G20 level. It unites trade unions from G20 countries and global unions, and is convened by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), and Trade Union Advisory Committee (TUAC) to the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development).
The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, is hosting the Labour-20 at a local hotel. A series of events are going to be held throughout the country with its inception meeting held in Amritsar on March 19 and 20. The event would focus on financing social security for workers, portability of social security funds, providing social security to all informal workers, etc.
The event would be attended by state labour minister Suresh Khade, Union labour secretary Aarti Ahuja, Ravindra Himte, Santosh Meherotra, Nilesh Sathe, B Surendran and others.
As part of this programme, nearly a 1,000 functions are going to be organized throughout the country, out of which 700 will be organized by the unions, 300 by different federations, and 40 by universities. In Vidarbha, Nagpur, Amravati, Chandrapur and VNIT are going to organize the functions.
BMS vice-president Neeta Choube, Vasantrao Pimplapure, Shilpa Deshpande, and Gajanan Gatlewar addressed the press conference.
