Online snags hit payments at Mormugao civic body

Vasco: The online payment system of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) developed some technical snags causing inconvenience to citizens visiting the civic body to pay their annual taxes.
The malfunctioning issue of the computerised system was raised by councillor Fredrick Henriques in an ordinary meeting of the council. He requested the chairperson Leo Rodrigues and chief officer Jayant Tari to immediately rectify the problem.
“It has now become a routine wherein people are forced to make payments by standing in long queues in front of the tax payment counter,” Henriques said.
“Accepting payment manually is time consuming,” he said, adding, “the chairperson and the chief officer should procure computer systems so that people are not inconvenienced,” he added.
