Former ICE agent sentenced on criminal sexual conduct charges

A former federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent from Riley Township was sentenced Wednesday to five to 15 years in prison on criminal sexual conduct charges.
Kevin Taylor, 49, pleaded no contest to two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in March. The charges come 30 years after the incidents.
In addition to his sentence, Taylor must register as a sex offender.
The ICE Office of Professional Responsibility started investigating Taylor after reports of sexual assaults surfaced. Taylor was accused of assaulting two minor relatives between 1989 to 1994, according to a press release from the Michigan Attorney General. Taylor would have been between 16 to 21 years old at the time of the assaults.
The victims' ages spanned between four to nine years old at the time.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said her office will continue to pursue justice for survivors even when decades have passed.
“This result would not have been possible without the collaborative work of the Criminal Trials and Appeals Division of my office, the ICE Office of Professional Responsibility, and the courage of Taylor’s victims to come forward after all these years against a predator in a position of power," she said.
At the time the charges were announced, ICE’s Jennifer Huerta said the survivors should be commended for their strength and determination. She said that without it, Taylor may not have been stopped from victimizing others.
