GURGAON: Residents of Lakshmi Garden, Om Nagar, Raj Nagar and Hira Nagar on Monday protested against the
MCG for not looking for a permanent solution for the overflowing sewer near Khandsa road.
The problem, residents said, has been continuing for the past one month. The residents said that despite complaining several times, the civic body is not providing them a long-term solution.
“The sewer overflow is a major problem in the area. It leads to our roads stinking and residents having to keep their windows and balcony doors shut, nearby. The stench also reaches Khandsa Mandi. It is a health hazard since we have been facing the problem for a month now. MCG addresses the problem only on complaint-basis but fails to provide a permanent solution. The sewer lines need thorough cleaning so that the sewer does not overflow repeatedly,” said Mukesh Dagar, a resident.
Another resident, Shyam Lal said, “The residents of Om Nagar have filed a complaint regarding the problem on the CM window. MCG just carries out a stop gap arrangement whenever it receives a complaint. The sewer lines in the area are old and the infrastructure needs to be upgraded keeping in mind the existing population.”
There have been multiple complaints across the city on the sewer overflow. The MCG officials said that they have taken up the work of sewer cleaning across the city. However The officials said that they deploy machines to carry out cleaning as and when they receive complaints.
