NOIDA: A 26-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by his father and younger brother over a property dispute in Greater Noida’s Badalpur area. The two accused, Rukan Singh and his younger son Robin, were arrested on Monday. Cops have also nabbed Robin’s friend Harsh in connection with the case.
“On Sunday morning, Badalpur police station received information that a man, later identified as Kapil Singh (26), was shot dead while he was sleeping at his maternal grandfather’s home in Durai village. The victim sustained a bullet wound in his abdomen while his throat was slit with a sharp weapon. The body was sent for post mortem,” said DCP (central Noida) Rambadan Singh.
Kapil’s uncle Dharmendra Singh filed a complaint against Kapil’s father Rukan, brother Robin and an unknown person at Badalpur police station. “An FIR under IPC Section 302 (murder) was registered. On scanning footage from CCTV cameras installed nearby, police found Rukan, Robin and an unknown person entered Singh’s house with arms on Sunday,” the DCP said.
During investigation, the family members told police that Kapil had a property dispute with his father and younger brother. “In 2012, Kapil — who was then 16 had kidnapped and killed his cousin Nishant. During the trial of this case, Rukan and Robin testified against Kapil in court, following which he was sentenced to jail for 10 years,” the DCP said.
On February 17, Kapil completed his sentence and was released from jail. He was still angry with his father and brother and started demanding his share in his father’s property.
“Kapil threatened his father that if he did not name half his property to him, he will kill the whole family. On May 6, Kapil also threatened to kill his sister and her kids. When Kapil's sister told her father about it, Rukan and Robin hatched a plan to kill Kapil,” Rambadan said.
Robin called up his friend Harsh, and after a while reached Kapil’s maternal grandparents’ home.
“The trio went to Durai village at 4am on Sunday and killed Kapil. As per evidence and electronic surveillance, the three were arrested on Monday from Dhoom Manikpur village in Greater Noida. We have recovered the murder weapons from the suspects- a country-made gun, a knife- and the car used in committing the murder," the officer said.
