Guwahati: The Assam cabinet on Monday approved the MoU to be signed by the state government with National Forensic Science University at Gandhinagar in Gujarat for establishment of an off-site campus near Changsari in North Guwahati.
The off-site campus will function temporarily from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital till the permanent campus is constructed.
The proposed campus will have state-of-the-art equipment to analyse DNA, facilitate and promote studies and research and achieve excellence in the field of forensic science in conjunction with applied behavioural science studies, law, criminology and other allied areas and technology and other related fields.
The cabinet also gave in-principle approval to the proposed collaboration between the state government and Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy Of Administration, Mussoorie, to provide specialised training to state civil service officers for a duration of one month, to be conducted under “Parvatmala Programme”.
To honour the sacrifice of ex-servicemen, the cabinet approved 75% exemption of registration fees for acquisition of one residential property (either land, land and house or apartment) by them or spouses of deceased former servicemen, once in a lifetime.
An estimated 11,000 beneficiaries and from next year onwards approximately 2,000 ex-servicemen and their families will benefit.
