New Delhi: Union minister Jitendra Singh on Tuesday highlighted the central role of technology-driven governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nine-year administration, emphasizing the “Maximum Governance, Minimum Government" approach, facilitated by increased technology usage.
During a speech at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), the minister noted various measures introduced to improve civil servant efficiency, such as the Prevention of Corruption Act amendment, which criminalized both giving and receiving bribes. He also cited the Mission Karmayogi and iGOT platforms, designed to help officers develop their skills before new assignments, and the three-month assistant secretaries program to familiarize officers with central government priorities.
Singh mentioned the aspirational district experiment and the importance of grievance redressal, highlighting the tenfold increase in grievances filed after the introduction of the CPGRAMS system in 2014. He stressed the need for citizen participation and discussed the SVAMITVA scheme, which uses drone technology to establish clear rural property ownership.
The minister also addressed digital transformation, noting that by February 2023, all 75 Ministries/Departments of the Central Secretariat adopted e-Office version 7.0.
