A shocking video has emerged on social media platforms showing a young man, allegedly drunk, riding a huge humped bull at late night through the streets of Tapovan in Uttarakhand’s Rishikesh.
The video, which has gone viral on social media since it was shared on Twitter a few days ago, shows an allegedly inebriated young man riding a humped bull during night time through the streets of Rishikesh as shocked bystanders look on.
A senior official of the Uttarakhand Police said the cops have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated legal action against the man for alleged animal abuse and endangering his life and that of others in his bid to film a viral video on May 5.
The official said that the young man was called to a police station and warned against misbehaving with animals or performing such dangerous stunts in the future.
Tweeting in Hindi, the Uttarakhand Police wrote on its official Twitter handle that cognizance was taken of the viral video on social media which showed a drunken youth riding a bull in Tapovan, Rishikesh, late at night on May 5. They said that legal action has been taken against the youth and he was warned not to misbehave with animals in this way in the future.
The shocking video, which has been widely shared and viewed on social media sites, since it was shared, has evoked mixed emotions from netizens.
While some people have demanded action against the man for alleged “animal abuse”, others however, have compared his viral act to Jallikattu and noted that the man hasn’t actually broken any laws and his stunt, while dangerous, does not mandate legal action.
Other users have demanded action against cattle owners for letting their cattle roam loose in the streets, while some users compared bull-riding to horse riding and claimed that both come within the same ambit.
