Delay in exams puts students’future admissions in jeopardy
Nagpur: Two days after Nagpur University deferred its final year exams, students are crying foul, complaining that their next admission in other universities or colleges, especially abroad, would be in jeopardy due to the inordinate delay.
On the other hand, NU’s examination section has announced the timetable for a few courses like BPEd and LLB which will be conducted from May 22-23.

The university has already delayed the exams by nearly two months due to apathy of its officials who failed to declare the previous semesters results. Generally, summer exams begin from mid-March, but now NU will be conducting them from May 22-23.
If papers are stretched to even a month or two, the results would be declared by August. By this time, all admissions in other universities would be over, said students.
“We may have to take a drop of one year if the results are declared late. The other universities, especially foreign-based, would not wait for NU’s results. It means we would lose an academic year for no fault of ours,” aggrieved students of BSc final year told TOI.
The university has also failed to declare results for months against the stipulated time of 45 days. BALLB students told TOI that their papers concluded on February 22, but their revaluation results were yet to be declared for over two months.
“Out of 108 students in the class, only 35 cleared the exams. They had applied for revaluation within a week of the results by February 29. Now, these students are worried that if the exams begin from May 22 and their results are further delayed, then they will have no other choice than to reappear. Many unqualified teachers, who are working on an hourly basis, are evaluating the answer-sheets. You cannot expect much from them as they are inexperienced,” students from NU’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Law College told TOI.
Students from other courses said many entrance exams would be conducted from June 5 onwards and they may miss those if the results were delayed. “What were NU officials doing all these days? Our results would have been out by this time had they started the exams from March. They are not serious about the students and only play with their careers,” the students said.
Last month, the National OBC Students’ Federation (NOSF) had staged protests in front of NU’s Jamnalal Bajaj premises complaining about the utter failure to declare results for over 120 months leaving students in the lurch, but it failed to make an impact.
